TRANSPORT

This is the same equipment I use in our own sheetmetal and restoration endeavors. Maximum attention is given to seeing that there is no further damage to the airplane. This is our 24 foot covered trailer and Cessna 182.

This burly, blue beast is a 1965 Ford F-260 one ton dually. The utility bed is ideal for keeping equipment organized in the field. It is not afraid to get off the blacktop. I also use a 3/4 ton, GMC conversion van for long trips, summer time and flat country.
The trailer is a PACE AMERICAN 24 foot, "V" nose, covered car trailer. It has 10,000 pound axels, not that airplanes weigh that much, but when you cross the continental divide and other mountain ranges, you want big brakes. The "V" nose definately helps the fuel mileage and handling characteristics of the trailer. It aslo provides a ramp at the front. It is very handy to have access to both ends. Since it is covered, it is secure at night and is protected against vandals or souvenir hunters. The contents stay clean and dry. The wing racks are built into the side of the trailer and keep the wings inside out of the wind. I have hauled two Cessna 182s, three Cessna 150s and one Husky this way.
